New Prairie is 0-10 against Bremen since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The New Prairie Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Bremen Lions at 5:00 p.m. New Prairie is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Last Thursday, New Prairie suffered a tough 62-39 defeat at the hands of South Bend Washington. The loss put an end to New Prairie's undefeated start to the season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Morgan White, who scored 16 points. She scored a full 41% of New Prairie's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Flagg, who scored 10 points along with 6 assists.
Meanwhile, Bremen didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Jimtown on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 59-54 win.
Bremen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eliana Grubbs, who scored 17 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Grubbs has scored at least 25% of Bremen's points. Another player making a difference was Kila Foster, who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds.
New Prairie's win lifted them to 9-1 while South Bend Washington's loss dropped them down to 7-2.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's matchup: New Prairie have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6 threes per game. It's a different story for Bremen, though, as they've been averaging only 6.4 per game. Given New Prairie's sizeable advantage in that area, Bremen will need to find a way to close that gap. New Prairie ended up a good deal behind Bremen in their previous matchup back in January, losing 80-62. Thankfully for New Prairie, Katie Moyer (who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
