Baseball Recap: Yulee Drops Highest Score of Season Against Westside

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Yulee). They never let the Westside Wolverines get on the board and left with a 29-0 victory on Friday. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Anderson Hammond looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Joshua McCormick was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Brodie Nichols, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Yulee hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive games.

Yulee now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Westside, they dropped their record down to 0-14 with the defeat, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yulee will host Cedar Creek Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westside, they will welcome Old Plank Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
