Lakota West has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Lakota East Thunderhawks at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Lakota West beat Oak Hills 47-39. That's two games straight that Lakota West has won by exactly eight points.
In what's become a running theme this season, Lakota East gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 66-25 victory over Fairfield at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Lakota East has posted yet this season.
Celina Blount continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with four blocks and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooke Asher, who scored 15 points.
Lakota West has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Lakota East, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
Lakota West came up short against Lakota East when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 46-39. Can Lakota West avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
