An exciting North v. South battle is about to be fought. The South Spartans will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the North Stars at 4:45 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
North will take on a team with plenty of momentum: South extended their winning streak to four on Thursday. The Spartans blew past Mira Monte 26-4. The Spartans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Zowey Estrada, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kloie Wetmore, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .657. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in 11 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, North waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 22-1 margin over the Mustangs. The contest marked the Stars' most dominant victory of the season.
Mollie McKinley was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). McKinley was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Katherine Leask was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Natalie De Leon was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and four runs.
South's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for North, their win bumped their record up to 16-8.
South took their victory against North in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-7 score. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Stars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
