The Eagle Mustangs were the 48-39 winner over the Lake City Timberwolves when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Eagle lost to Lake City on the road by a decisive 69-53 margin on Thursday. Even though they lost, Eagle's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.2 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
When it comes to explaining why Eagle lost, one person who can't be blamed is Paige Cofer. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Cofer's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Porter Wood, who scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds.
Eagle now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Lake City, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Eagle will head out on the road to face off against Coeur d'Alene at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (Coeur d'Alene is ranked 26th, while Eagle is ranked 44th). As for Lake City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rocky Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rocky Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
