The Shallowater Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the River Road Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shallowater knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully River Road likes a good challenge.
Shallowater came out on top against Muleshoe on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Mustangs blew past the Mules 10-0. Considering the Mustangs have won 14 games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Gracie Banks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brinley Currington, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Olivo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Shallowater kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive contests.
Randall hit River Road with a five-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats fell 8-3 to the Raiders. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Isela Delgado was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.
Shallowater is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for River Road, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-10.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Shallowater has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .541. However, it's not like River Road struggles in that department as they've averaged .499. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Shallowater couldn't quite finish off River Road when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 9-7. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
