The Ursuline Academy Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Parish Episcopal Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ursuline Academy will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Ursuline Academy beat the Trojans 49-40. Given Ursuline Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Trojans are ranked 992nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ursuline Academy relied on the efforts of Molly Davis, who scored nine points along with three steals, and Madelyne Davis, who scored ten points along with five assists and three steals. Davis hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Izzy Schroeder, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Parish Episcopal had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 42-37 W over Trinity Christian on Tuesday.
Ursuline Academy pushed their record up to 19-8 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Parish Episcopal, the win got them back to even at 13-13.
Ursuline Academy strolled past the Panthers when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 49-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ursuline Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
