Basketball Recap: Saint Andrew's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

It was fun while it lasted, but Saint Andrew's undefeated season came to an end after six games on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Pine Crest Panthers by a score of 34-31. The game marked the Scots' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Loss or not, Saint Andrew's got some senior leadership from Emma Smith and Delaney Beighley. Smith posted ten points and four steals, while Beighley earned ten points.

Leading Pine Crest to victory were Isabella Sangha and Franky Garfi. Sangha dropped a double-double on 27 points and 14 boards, while Garfi put up seven points and nine rebounds. Sangha's afternoon made it 17 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Saint Andrew's fell to 6-1. As for Pine Crest, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saint Andrew's will welcome Oxbridge Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Saint Andrew's is facing Oxbridge Academy at the right time seeing as Oxbridge Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Pine Crest, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Spanish River at 6:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025. Pine Crest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58 points per game this season.
