If the Dinwiddie Generals were riding high off their 66-39 takedown of the Colonial Heights Colonials last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Dinwiddie took a 53-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Matoaca. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Dinwiddie of the 50-42 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.
Dinwiddie's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christiana Jones, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Milana Jones, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Dinwiddie's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6. As for Matoaca, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Dinwiddie will be playing at home against Huguenot at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Huguenot comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Matoaca, they will head out on the road to face off against Thomas Dale at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Thomas Dale's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
