If Draughn was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of R-S Central last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell just short of the Patton Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Draughn took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 23-25, 23-25, 25-20, 16-14.
Ella Anthony paced Draughn's offense, picking up 12 kills. Anthony were helped by Shelby Proffitt and Ashlyn Heavner, who contributed 17 assists each. Macy Auton and Lillian Collins kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.
Patton had a senior duo take command as Carly Setterlind had 13 digs and five assists and Kayla Morris had ten digs and one assist. Setterlind is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Chesney Hensley also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Draughn's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 11-5. As for Patton, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-3.
