The Alvin Yellowjackets will head out on the road to take on the Alief Hastings Bears at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Alvin and 13 for Alief Hastings.
Last Wednesday, Alvin ended up a good deal behind Alief Elsik and lost 56-42. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Alvin in their matchups with Alief Elsik: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Alief Hastings, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-37 loss to Alief Elsik on Saturday.
The losing side was boosted by Wembo Fernandes, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Alief Hastings struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They are winless (0-3) when they just don't pass the ball.
Alvin has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-22 record this season. As for Alief Hastings, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-21.
Alvin didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Alief Hastings when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 54-50 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alvin since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
