Derrick Henry (2010), Jabrill Peppers (2011), JT Daniels (2016), D.J. Uiagalelei (2017) and Quinn Ewers (2019) are just some of the high school football stars that have earned the title MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year. Add
Lebbeus Overton of
Milton (Ga.) to the list.
Overton showed why he's the top-rated player in the Class of 2023 according to 247Sports, finishing his sophomore season as Georgia's leader in sacks with 21.5. He added 70 tackles and 38 tackles for loss playing against the Peach State's top competition.
Thanks in part to Overton's efforts, Milton went 11-1 and reached the AAAAAAA quarterfinals before losing to Lowndes (Valdosta). The 6-foot-5, 245-pound defensive end played a huge role in Milton's success in 2020 and the Eagles expect to be a contender once again in 2021.
