Mountain View scored a shocking upset when it eliminated Ironwood Ridge, 14-7. At the time, the Nighthawks were ranked 21st in the state, while the Mountain Lions were 36th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Mountain View, who defeated 21st ranked Ironwood Ridge, 14-7.
Tucson High Magnet School's dynamic duo of Donovan Moore and Elijah Anderson proved to be unstoppable against Rincon, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Moore threw for 168 yards and 2 touchdowns and Anderson had 82 yards receiving. Austin Perkins helped Tucson High Magnet School's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 41 yards.
Salpointe Catholic's Andrew Cota and Cameron Denson have formed a dream team this season, leading II Section V in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Cota has thrown for 1,716 yards this season, while Denson has 43 catches for 940 yards. Jake Vartanian from Matt Johnson's team leads the league in rushing with 1,241 yards.
The Lancers' Denson is only 60 receiving yards away from breaking 1,000 receiving yards this season as he enters this week's game against the the Nighthawks. So far this year, he has acheived 43 catches for 940 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Ironwood Ridge takes on Salpointe Catholic. At the moment, the Nighthawks are in fourth, while Dennis Bene's team is in first.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, the Lancers beat Vista Grande 51-0. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
