Mercer and Gilman City are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Mercer Cardinals will get right back to it and host the Gilman City Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th.
On Monday, things could have been worse for Mercer, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-42 loss to Grundy County/Newtown-Harris. Mercer has struggled against Grundy County/Newtown-Harris recently, as their contest on Monday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Gilman City came into Friday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They secured a 57-53 W over Winston on Friday.
Mercer's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Gilman City, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10.
Mercer strolled past Gilman City when the teams last played last Tuesday by a score of 68-54. Will Mercer repeat their success, or does Gilman City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
