After both having extra time off, Michigan Math & Science and the Merritt Academy Mustangs will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Merritt Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Michigan Math & Science, who comes in off a win.
Michigan Math & Science had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points), and they went ahead and made it five last Thursday. They snuck past Universal Learning Academy with a 39-35 win.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Merritt Academy, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 53-30 walloping at the hands of Hope Of Detroit Academy last Thursday.
Michigan Math & Science pushed their record up to 1-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Merritt Academy, they have fallen quite a ways from their 18-5 record last season and are now at 0-5.
Things could have been worse for Michigan Math & Science, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 41-26 loss to Merritt Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023.
