The Altha Wildcats will head out to face off against the Malone Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Altha has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Vernon hit Altha with a nine-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats came up short against the Yellowjackets, falling 12-1. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Will O'Bryan was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more stolen bases the last four times he's played.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Friday. Malone came out on top against Graceville by a score of 9-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for Malone.
Trenton Jordan made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Christian Morales, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Malone's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Blaine Benton, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Altha's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Malone, their record now sits at 7-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Altha has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 11.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Malone struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Altha got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March of 2025 against Malone by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
