Hartville is a perfect 3-0 against Plato since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Hartville is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Plato at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
If Hartville beats Plato with 16 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Vernon on Saturday, sneaking past 16-14.
Sarah Palmer was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Peyton Dudley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double.
Hartville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Vernon only posted an OBP of .421.
Meanwhile, Plato got the win against Mansfield on Monday by a conclusive 15-4. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.
Taylor Utley was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Utley was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Utley is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Plato got a massive performance out of Maci Shalbot, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and four runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Pimentel, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases and four runs.
Hartville's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Plato, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Hartville beat Plato 9-6 in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hartville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
