Farmington will head out to face Fremont after giving up their first home loss of the season on Tuesday. The Phoenix lost 3-0 to Davis. Considering the last time the Phoenix couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.
While Farmington was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 26-24, 25-16.
Meanwhile, Fremont played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and got just the result they were looking for. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Layton, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Silverwolves have posted since April 27, 2024.
Fremont was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (104-103), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-23, 15-10.
Farmington better focus on containing John Suka and Cooper Toyn as the pair were huge in Fremont's win. Suka had 16 digs and two assists, while Toyn had four digs and two aces. That's the most aces Toyn has posted since back in March. Will Hacker also deserves some recognition as he had his first dig of the season.
Farmington's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Fremont, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-13 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's game: Farmington hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 7.9 blocks per game. It's a different story for Fremont, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 blocks. Given Farmington's sizable advantage in that area, the Silverwolves will need to find a way to close that gap.
Farmington took their victory against Fremont when the teams last played on April 8th by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Phoenix since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
