The Marionville Comets will be playing at home against the Cabool Bulldogs on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Marionville walked away with it. They breezed by Miller on the road to the tune of 49-0. Marionville's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Marionville relied on the efforts of Cash Pomeroy, who rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, and Bryer Guerin, who threw for 130 yards and two touchdowns while completing 90% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Cabool really took it to Ash Grove for the full four quarters, racking up a 40-6 win at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cabool.
Tyler Fleetwood was his usual excellent self, rushing for 165 yards and four touchdowns. Fleetwood has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Owen Casper, who rushed for 58 yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Marionville to 10-0 and Cabool to 5-5.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Marionville has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 234.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cabool struggles in that department as they've been averaging 220.7 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
