The McConnellsburg Spartans stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. Everything went their way against Southern Fulton as McConnellsburg made off with a 53-30 win. McConnellsburg is really starting to get used to good results now that the team's won 12 straight.
It was another big night for Dom Jefferson, who scored 24 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Drew Mellott, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Southern Fulton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Mellott, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Ward, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Southern Fulton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
McConnellsburg pushed their record up to 18-2 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28 points. As for Southern Fulton, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.
McConnellsburg won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against GVCS Broadfording at 3:00 p.m. on February 10th. Hopefully GVCS Broadfording focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Tuesday. As for Southern Fulton, they will be playing at home against Meyersdale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
