Pine Prairie is 8-2 against Mamou since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Panthers will take on the Demons at 5:30 p.m. Pine Prairie will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
If Pine Prairie beats Mamou with 12 runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Panthers blew past Ville Platte 12-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Panthers have won 15 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kynnedi Ware was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Josie Vidrine was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Chloe Adcock was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Pine Prairie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Mamou's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 12-2 to Iota. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Demons couldn't push the score so high this time.
Pine Prairie pushed their record up to 26-3 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Mamou, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-13-1.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pine Prairie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. However, it's not like Mamou struggles in that department as they've averaged .379. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pine Prairie took their win against Mamou when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
