The Midwest Central/Delavan Raiders lost against the Peoria Heights Patriots back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Midwest Central/Delavan was beaten by Peoria Heights 62-27. While losing is never fun, Midwest Central/Delavan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 455th, while Peoria Heights is ranked 89th).
Peoria Heights got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emily Dana out in front who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Dana has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Nyaja Russell, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Midwest Central/Delavan has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Peoria Heights, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midwest Central/Delavan will square off against Havana at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Peoria Heights, they will head out on the road to face off against Elmwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
