The Linfield Christian Lions pushed their score all the way to 64 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 69-64 loss to they. They lost against Summit in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 61-57 score last time.
Despite the loss, Linfield Christian still got an impressive performance from Julius Brower, who scored 29 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Those 29 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Drew Pierce, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Linfield Christian's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-9. As for Summit, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Linfield Christian will face off against Arrowhead Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Arrowhead Christian will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Summit will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Grand Terrace at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th.
