Basketball Game Preview: Pe Ell Trojans vs. Columbia Adventist Academy Kodiaks

The Pe Ell Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Columbia Adventist Academy Kodiaks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pe Ell has 11 straight victories, Columbia Adventist Academy has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Pe Ell will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Wahkiakum, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. Pe Ell took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging a 54-9 win over Wahkiakum. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 23 points or more this season.

Pe Ell's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karli Phelps, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 13 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Phelps has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Engel, who posted ten points and five boards.

Pe Ell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 21 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Columbia Adventist Academy ended up a good deal behind Naselle on Monday and lost 60-44. While losing is never fun, the Kodiaks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while the Comets are ranked 144th).

Pe Ell's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.5 points. As for Columbia Adventist Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Pe Ell strolled past Columbia Adventist Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 39-23. Does Pe Ell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Columbia Adventist Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
