Fans got a thrill when Robert Webber and Praise Obiezu connected against King. The connection was good for 82 yards, the longest such play in Big VIII this season.
Centennial was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Wolves. The Huskies came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Cory Young was a force in the backfield as Norco bested Roosevelt.
Joseph Muriel threw for 403 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 20-37 with 3 interceptions.
Young was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 287 yards on 31 carries as the Cougars fell to the Cougars. Teammate Victor Viramontes added to the ground attack by rushing for 140 yards.
Roosevelt's Muriel and Williams have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Muriel has thrown for 2,101 yards this season, while Williams has 32 catches for 736 yards. Centennial's Tre Watson leads the league in rushing yards with 1,761.
Nick Gibson of the Corona is just 89 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Gibson has rushed for 911 yards on 146 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in Big VIII this week will be when Santiago takes on King. The Sharks are in third place, while Kevin Corridan's team is in first place.
The Wolves lost to Matt Logan's team 70-28 last week, the largest margin of any game. DeWitt Caswell ran for 103 yards in the defeat.
