Softball Recap: Magnolia's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Magnolia came into Tuesday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Arkadelphia Badgers on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Kloey Basinger made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Basinger was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Magnolia let Emily Cole and Adelynn Bonds run wild. Cole scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Bonds went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Cole a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rayleigh Herron, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Magnolia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arkadelphia only posted an OBP of .200.

Magnolia's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 8-5. As for Arkadelphia, they dropped their record down to 4-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Magnolia will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Badgers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
