Alamo Heights stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 72-45 win over Burbank at home. Given Alamo Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 1102nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alamo Heights' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hayes Waddy led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was John Budenholzer, who scored 16 points along with six assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Highlands made easy work of the Voks on Tuesday and carried off a 57-34 victory.
Alamo Heights' victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 25-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Highlands, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-18 record this season.
Alamo Heights strolled past the Owls in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 46-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alamo Heights since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
