Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Matoaca Warriors walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Godwin 36-0 at home. Matoaca might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won six games by 28 points or more this season.
Matoaca's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Montino Williams jr, who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Another player making a difference was Dillon Newton-short, who picked up 104 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Matoaca has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Godwin, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Matoaca will square off against Fleming at TBD on Saturday. Fleming is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. Godwin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
