After two games on the road, Mt. Zion Prep Academy is heading back home. They will take on the Shining Star Sports Academy Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mt. Zion Prep Academy is ranked highly in their home state, and last Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Paul VI. Mt. Zion Prep Academy took down Paul VI 50-33.
Makyiah Ward was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyla McFadden, who scored eight points.
In what's become a running theme this season, Shining Star Sports Academy gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 103-53 victory over Riverdale Baptist. Shining Star Sports Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Sira Thienou continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 20 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Harrissoum Coulibaly was another key contributor, scoring 24 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Mt. Zion Prep Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Shining Star Sports Academy, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Mt. Zion Prep Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 58 points per game. However, it's not like Shining Star Sports Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 70.4 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
