The Alamo Heights Mules entered their tilt with the Jefferson Mustangs with 18 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 19. Alamo Heights came out on top against Jefferson by a score of 50-38 on Tuesday. Given Alamo Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Jefferson is ranked 461st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alamo Heights found their leader in underclassman Alex Elliott, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Elliott has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayes Waddy, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Alamo Heights' victory was their 20th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points per game. As for Jefferson, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alamo Heights will face off against Lanier at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lanier will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Jefferson on the road again on Friday and play against Highlands at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th.
