On Friday, Oak Forest Academy got the win against Bowling Green by a conclusive 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Brody Thomas looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).
On the hitting side, Kaul Perkins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Blayke Danna, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Parklane Academy sidestepped Silliman Institute for a 3-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pioneers.
Collin Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. Parklane Academy is 3-1 when Smith allowsthree or fewer earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jay Allredge, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Oak Forest Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Parklane Academy, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
