The Center Grove Trojans came tearing into Saturday's contest with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Hamilton Southeastern 74-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Center Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lilly Bischoff led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Aubrie Booker, who scored 12 points along with six assists and six steals.
When it comes to explaining why Hamilton Southeastern lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maya Makalusky. Despite the final result, she went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 0 assists. Makalusky is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Kennedy Holman was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten assists.
Center Grove pushed their record up to 21-1 with that win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Hamilton Southeastern, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Center Grove will take on Greenwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Center Grove is ranked second). As for Hamilton Southeastern, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Pike at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Pike is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
