The Ysleta Indians suffered their biggest loss since December 19, 2023 on Friday. Their tough 54-32 loss to Hanks might stick with them for a while. Ysleta has struggled against Hanks recently, as their matchup on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Ysleta saw an underclassman step up: Mary Raygoza scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Hanks' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daisy Fernandez, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jax (e) alva, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Ysleta's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-17. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.7 points per game. As for Hanks, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 17-11.
Ysleta will head out on the road to face off against Parkland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Parkland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday. As for Hanks, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bel Air at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bel Air is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
