Basketball Recap: Bloom Takes a Loss

The Bloom Blazing Trojan came up short against the Crane Medical Cougars on Saturday and fell 67-56.

Despite the loss, Bloom saw an underclassman step up: freshman Keiwon Gulley went 8-for-16 on his way to 23 points along with six steals and five assists. Thanks to that strong game, Gulley now owns an excellent 45.3% field goal percentage. Troy Garner was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Bloom's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Crane Medical, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.

Bloom is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Kankakee at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Blazing Trojan will need to watch out since the Kays have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Crane Medical, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-40 victory against Perspectives-IIT/Joslin on the 16th.
