Servite is 0-10 against Mater Dei since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Servite Friars will head out on the road to face off against the Mater Dei Monarchs at 9:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Servite's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 90-50 loss at the hands of St. John Bosco. While losing is never fun, Servite can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while St. John Bosco is ranked first).
Meanwhile, Mater Dei unfortunately witnessed the end of their 15-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 68-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of JSerra Catholic. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Servite's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Mater Dei, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-2.
Servite was dealt a bruising 92-49 defeat at the hands of Mater Dei when the teams last played on January 9th. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Servite was down 56-22.
