After a string of four wins, the Pioneer Patriots's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 77-65 to Yuba City. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Pioneer still got an impressive performance from Erik Hoyt, who scored 18 points. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Frank Goodenough, who scored 11 points.
It was another big night for Anthony Medina , who scored 26 points along with six rebounds for Yuba City. That's the first time this season that Medina scored 15 or more points. Saleem Rafiq was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Pioneer's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Yuba City, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pioneer will face off against West Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Park presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pioneer in California (West Park is ranked 237th, while Pioneer is ranked 845th). As for Yuba City, they will head out on the road to face off against Del Oro at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Del Oro has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 272 points over their last four contests.
