After a string of four wins, the South Ridge Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Mountain Iron-Buhl at home and fell 68-37. South Ridge has struggled against Mountain Iron-Buhl recently, as their matchup on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Jordan Zubich was her usual excellent self, going 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 8 assists for Mountain Iron-Buhl. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Zubich has scored at least 25% of Mountain Iron-Buhl's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hali Savela, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
South Ridge's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-1. As for Mountain Iron-Buhl, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with that victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.
South Ridge has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Barnum at 7:15 p.m. on December 19th. Mountain Iron-Buhl's road trip will continue as they head out to face Esko at 7:00 p.m. on December 18th. Esko knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Mountain Iron-Buhl likes a good challenge.
