The Idabel Warriors put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Wilburton 49-7 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.
Idabel got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Waylon Phillips out in front who threw for 175 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes. AJ Smith was in the mix as well, providing Idabel with two touchdowns.
Idabel's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Wilburton and 2-7 Hugo (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 31.1% over those games). As for Wilburton, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Idabel will look to defend their home field on Friday against Eufaula at 7:00 p.m. Eufaula is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Wilburton, they will head out on the road to face off against Spiro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
