Weld Central hasn't had much luck against Eaton recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Rebels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Reds at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Weld Central turned things around against Fort Lupton on Saturday. They never let the Bluedevils get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. With that victory, the Rebels brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
The team relied heavily on Luke Witzel, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double. Ezekiel Zavala was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Eaton made sure to put some runs up on the board against Manitou Springs on Tuesday. The Reds blew past the Mustangs 15-5. The result was nothing new for the Reds, who have now won eight matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Tito Lopez looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Eaton got a big performance out of Everett Edinger, who went 2-for-5 with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave Edinger a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Greyson Clingan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Weld Central's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Eaton, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Weld Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Eaton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Weld Central suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Eaton in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Rebels have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
