The Armijo Royals will face off against the Fairfield Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Armijo took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 34-2 margin over Burbank. The high-scoring effort was just what the Royals needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Brooklyn Talbot was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, scoring five runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances.

Those five runs gave Spears a new career-high. Angel Arias was another key player, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
Meanwhile, Fairfield hadn't done well against Bethel recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Thursday. Fairfield put the hurt on Bethel with a sharp 23-1 win.
Like Armijo, Fairfield also got a great game from a two-way player: Karli Robinson. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Robinson was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Fairfield let Madylin Micheli and Claudia Lucero run wild. Micheli went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Lucero got on base in all four of her plate appearances with six RBI, three runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Bethany Johnson, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Fairfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bethel only posted an OBP of .167.
Armijo now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Fairfield, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Armijo's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. Armijo has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Fairfield, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Armijo continue to outrun the ball?
