Brashear has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Green City Gophers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brashear will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while Green City is ranked 102nd).
Brashear suffered their closest loss yet this season on January 2nd. They fell just short of Marion County by a score of 38-36.
Green City has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 57-48 to Salisbury on Wednesday.
Despite their loss, Green City saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jaryn Hatcher, who scored 15 points along with four steals, was perhaps the best of all. Hatcher has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Macy Jeffries, who scored 13 points along with five assists.
Brashear's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Green City, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Brashear came up short against Green City when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 48-40. Can Brashear avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
