The West Milford Highlanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pequannock. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Milford in their matchups with Pequannock: they've now lost four in a row.
West Milford's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Avery Vacca, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds, and Laurel Space who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for her. Sarah Benowitz was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
West Milford now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Pequannock, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
West Milford won't have much time to rest: their next game is against DePaul Catholic at 10:00 a.m. on December 28th. As for Pequannock, they will be playing at home against Hanover Park at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
