The Covenant Christian Cougars have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. Their tough 79-57 defeat to DasCHE on Friday might stick with them for a while. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
DasCHE's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tristan Clark led the charge by going 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 4 assists. Clark set a new season high mark in rebounds with six. Another player making a difference was Davon Smith, who scored 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Covenant Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for DasCHE, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.
Covenant Christian and Bethesda Christian will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bethesda Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 335th, while Covenant Christian is ranked 141st). DasCHE is on the road again on Friday and play against Southwest Christian School at 5:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Southwest Christian School is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
