The La Plata Warriors lost against the Suitland Rams on Wednesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. La Plata might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 61-43 to Suitland, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. La Plata has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
La Plata's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dwayne Liggins, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The game was Liggins' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Austin Ashley, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Suitland found their leader in underclassman Devonte Mobley, who scored 30 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mobley has scored at least 25% of Suitland's points. Meshach Pannell was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
La Plata now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Suitland, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-5.
La Plata won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Great Mills at 6:30 p.m. on January 5th. Great Mills is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.6 points per game. Suitland's road trip will continue as they head out to face Laurel at 7:15 p.m. on January 9th.
