The Mastery Warrior will square off against the Westampton Tech Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mastery has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Mastery is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Maple Shade just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 15-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Warrior have suffered since April 14th.
Jaylin Quezada made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Westampton Tech never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past Moorestown Friends 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jeret Torres was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Torres was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Angelo Amicucci was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Westampton Tech's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Dominic Gore-Brown, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Westampton Tech is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Mastery, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mastery has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Westampton Tech struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mastery suffered a grim 17-5 defeat to Westampton Tech in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Warrior have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
