Downriver recap Nov. 7, 2012
Roosevelt extended the longest winning streak in Downriver this week by beating Truman, 9-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Roosevelt made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,282 from 2,862. The improvement was the result of 9-0 victory over the Cougars last week.
Truman's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Devin Goodwell threw for 38 yards and Dalvin Rubens had 38 yards receiving. On the ground Cortez Gardner chipped in 55 yards.
Ron Adams' team's Kevin Matejko and Devan Stewart have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Matejko has thrown for 1526 yards this season, while Stewart, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 31 catches for 687 yards. Nick Maher from Woodhaven leads the league in rushing with 1697 yards.
In 104 carries Marcus Carter has accumulated 968 yard this year.
The Bears featured an ironclad defense this week, and led the league in points allowed with 0.
