The South Plainfield Tigers were the 19-14 winner over the Monroe Township Falcons when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. South Plainfield took a serious blow against Monroe Township on Friday, falling 47-14.
Leading Monroe Township to victory were Brandon Macaluso and Salvatore Marchione. Macaluso threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns, while Marchione gained 164 total yards and a touchdown. Zack Wallace was another key contributor, picking up 42 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
South Plainfield's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 4-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.3 points per game. As for Monroe Township, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
South Plainfield will head out on the road to face off against Scotch Plains-Fanwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monroe Township, they will face off against Perth Amboy at TBD on Thursday. Perth Amboy is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
