Basketball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Foundation Academy's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Foundation Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a hard 83-64 fall against the Windermere Prep Lakers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 85-55 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

Despite the loss, Foundation Academy still got an impressive performance from Alex Nichols, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 21 points. With that strong performance, Nichols is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Michels, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Windermere Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brandon Bass Jr. led the charge by dropping a double-double on 29 points and ten boards. Bass Jr.'s evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Malachi Martis was another key player, going 7 of 8 on his way to 21 points and seven rebounds.

Foundation Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Windermere Prep, their record now sits at 7-5.

Foundation Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mount Dora Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Windermere Prep and Great Crossing will round out the year against one another at at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Windermere Prep's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
