Grossmont is 9-1 against Steele Canyon since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Foothillers will take on the Cougars at 1:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Grossmont took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over Valhalla.

Luis Camargo tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Grossmont is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tyler Holmes, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Grossmont is undefeated when Holmes posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Logan Struck was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Steele Canyon beat Montgomery 8-5 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.
Andrew Bravo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Steele Canyon let Caden Davey and Julian Cervantes run wild. Davey went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Cervantes went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Cervantes has posted since back in March. Jonah Arens also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Steele Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Grossmont's record is now 8-9. As for Steele Canyon, their record now sits at 5-10.
Grossmont beat Steele Canyon 3-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Foothillers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
