The Englewood Stem Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They suffered a tough 57-31 loss at the hands of Curie. While losing is never fun, Englewood Stem can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 601st, while Curie is ranked 173rd).
When it comes to explaining why Englewood Stem lost, one person who can't be blamed is Saniya Buchanan. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zandrea Brittmon , who scored five points.
Englewood Stem's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7-1. As for Curie, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Englewood Stem will be home for the holidays to greet Woodlawn at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Curie will be home for the holidays to greet Orr at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
